open edition for the year 2002

This stablemate scale Percheron is loaded with energy and attitude! He represents the heavier type French Percheron, so he could also represent the Belgian and many other draft breeds. The new "Hairy" version could be many other breeds of Draft Horse.

This was the Rose Studios open/unlimited edition for the year 2002. This means he is no longer available. Please see the new mini Mustang, which is the open edition for the year 2003

Percherons are generally 15.2 to 17 hands high, not huge by draft horse standards. However, individuals can be much larger, and the tallest horse ever recorded was a Percheron stallion named Dr. Le Gear in 1903. He was 21 hands tall, and weighed 3,940 pounds!

Here's another interesting Percheron fact:

Many people know that Percherons come in black and gray, but did you know that they can also be sorrel, bay, red and blue roan?

Big Guy!
The Percheron I used as a model and inspiration is an 11 year old, 17 hand stallion named Prince Charles. He was owned by Don Hinkley of Hesperus, Colorado, but has recently been sold. What a beautiful horse!
